Read this post for "Best IT Certifications" (according to current demand) and yes you can obtain a career in IT without school/college computer science education. There are many people who have ventured into computer science field having an accoutancy background.

Hi Zev, Thanks for your prompt reply. After going through all the pros and cons I am considering to take up a combo of CCNA and MCSE. As I am a complete beginner I want to opt for class room training rather than e-learning for easy comprehension. What would be your suggestions?

I am totally up for class room training, don't go for any e-learning option. Face to face interaction is very important for good education. When you will be ready for taking for CCNA tests, just buy your related exam question answer package from the following link CCNA Certification Training | Download Free Demo
For MCSE MCSE 2008 Certification Training | Download Free Demo I am sure you will pass your exams easily only if you are studying because you have a passion for this field, you have studied thoroughly and you have practiced for your examinations by attempting sample exam questions available in the above given links. Good Luck. |

Look, taking or not taking up option for boot camps is depended upon you. Your basic objective should be that you get to know each and everything that is required to pass your examinations. If you are busy with a job, then you may have to look at your available time and then choose your option. Boot camps are only useful if you know "MORE THAN something" about your concerned certification. I advise you to attend full time classes because you had a different educational background and you surely are not in any place to take short cuts.
"This time, like all times, is a very good one, if we but know what to do with it." Ralph Waldo Emerson "The key is in not spending time, but in investing it." Stephen R. Covey So invest your time. |

Hi Zev,
Your mails are helping me a lot. But the thing is that am looking for a job and I have limits pertaining to budget and time. That is why I am looking forward to attend a Boot camp. Do yo have any idea of Boot Camps. If I get qality education in lesser time, travelling is not a problem for me. |

It seems like boot camps are your only viable solution. I hope you do get a job sooner rather than later.
Getting quality education in lesser time is a form of SHORT CUT and I have always advised against it but your situation is different and boot camp is definitely what you are looking for. So now your objective is simple and straight "Collect as much resources as possible through internet and also attend boot camp very attentively as it would be very short and you will have to pay 100% attention." Download free ebooks through torrent or any other free downloading service. I am really glad to help you out. Good Luck. |

Hi Zev,
You are helping me a lot. Thank you so much. Few of my friends have suggested me about a few Boot Camps in Asia, particularly in India. I have gone through their websites and going by the price, duration and feedbacks of the students everything seems right. What do you suggest? Shall I go for it? Suggestions from anyone who has tried Boot camps solicited. |

Certification, it seems to me, garners a lot more interest among the IT administrator audience than developers. Though there are plenty of certifications available for the programmer crowd, I don't sense the same level of passion that I do among admins.
